AirTags are found using the Find My app in different ways, with respect to the distance of the AirTag which is lost. In this article, we will see how AirTags can be found using Precision Finding, how AirTag’s speaker can be used to find it, and how an AirTag which was lost in a faraway place can be found.

Locating Your Lost AirTag

When Locating the lost Product indoors

Tap on Items inside the Find My app and select the item which you want to find. If your AirTag is within the Bluetooth range and you are using any one of iPhone 11 or later models you can find it using Precision Finding.

Tap on the Find option, you will be able to see an arrow which is the direction you should head towards. The approximate distance of the item is also mentioned below. Now keep moving using the guidance given on screen and when you reach near the item you will hear a sound.

Your screen shows that you have reached the item and if you are still not able to see your AirTag use the sound option. Tap on the speaker icon found in the bottom right corner of the screen and the AirTag starts to play a sound. Now follow the sound and find your item. You can also use Siri to enable the AirTag’s in-built speaker, say “Hey Siri, find my [item name]”.

When lost a product somewhere outside

Open the map in the Find My app shows the last known location with the time mentioned below it. Now tap Directions to open Maps and find the route to reach your AirTag from your current location. Reach that location and try using Precision Finding when it is within the Bluetooth range. The maximum Bluetooth range is around 100 meters. If the item is not located, its last location will be found in the app.

How to use Lost Mode – Apple AirTag?

The Lost Mode can be used if your AirTag has not been located yet. Apple uses its vast Find My network comprising millions of its devices to help you locate your item. If your AirTag is not detected by any nearby Apple device yet, you must wait. When the Lost Mode is on, you will get a notification immediately once any Apple device detects your AirTag.
