Huawei Honor 7X complete review

Huawei, the popular Chinese electronic company nowadays coming out with much more smartphone models regularly. Honor released its latest midrange smartphone Huawei Honor 7X with multiple variants based on its memory capacity. Almost all other specs are same in both the variants except that it has 3 GB and 4 GB RAM depends on the country.

Design and Build Quality

The build quality of the phone is really that much good. Honor did a great job in optimizing the size of the phone. Even Though it has a 5.9-inch display it doesn’t look that big. It is comfortable to hold it in a single hand. It has the metallic back panel which makes the phone looking premium for at this price range. Though the metallic panel feels smooth it is not slippery.

The downside is that it still uses the outgoing micro-USB port instead of the current markets USB type-C port.

Display

The phone comes with 5.9” full HD+ display with the new 18:9 Aspect ratio surrounded by super thin bezels. The 18:9 Aspect ratio screen gives you a very modern feel. The display quality is also much good and even fairly visible at outdoor lighting conditions.

Camera Performance

The Honor 7x has the dual rear camera setup as like their competitors, But only one camera with 16MP at the back act as a regular camera whereas the other one with 2MP is just a depth sensor for the primary camera.
In terms of general picture quality, it is fairly good at decent lightning condition. Colour reproduction is nice and having a good dynamic range. It struggles a lot with low light conditions and definitely, we see the lack of sharpness when zooming in. At some times the images are muddy and shaky.
The front facing camera is really the best in this price range. Both the front and rear cameras have portrait mode. But the portrait (bokeh mode) mode on both the cameras is not that much great as it has some trouble separating the front and the background. The camera does support 1080p videos only and still, there is no Optical Image Stabilization. The video recorded is shakier when it moves.

Phone Performance

The phone comes with Kiran 659 Chipset which is very much similar to the popular Snapdragon 625 chipset. It is more than enough for the day-to-day usage. The RAM management of this phone is very well here.
Coming to Gaming performance is really doing well, almost on all types of games. But It struggles a little at heavy games like Asphalt 8. When playing with high graphics settings. But still, you can play these games without any lag with medium graphics.

User Interface

The phone comes with its own custom UI (EM-UI) which runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat). At times we have noticed some minor lags in the UI as there are some. I think some apps are to be optimized to run perfectly in this UI. I think you have to wait for a long time to get latest Android updates for your mobile as we are seeing with the previous release.

Speaker

It just has a single speaker over the bottom & it is adequately louder. Yet, there is nothing to feel amazing to talk about it. The audio over the 3.5mm Headphone Jack is actually good. It has additional customization settings to enhance the quality of the audio over the headphone as per our wish.

Fingerprint Sensor

The fingerprint sensor at the back is very responsive like other Honor phones. The sensor is placed at a very comfortable spot to reach with your index finger and it is doing a great job as well. The lightning speed and accuracy of the sensor is the best at this price range

Conclusion

Overall the Huawei Honor 7X is very impressive which gives you a flagship level experience with few compromises. Though it has minor lags. Truly it’s one of the best midrange mobiles which offers lot of features at this price range
