Complete Review on OnePlus 6

Design and Build Quality

The OnePlus 6 looks premium in hands. The noticeable changes from the older OnePlus one’s are the glass panel at the back and the notch at the front, which makes the smartphone looks basically as like all other 2018 smartphones. At the front, it really looks cool with the larger display with the smallest notch on the top featuring the front camera, earpiece, proximity sensor and notification light.

Oneplus 6 design review

All the notification icons in the smartphone are well packed at the top corners and thus you won’t feel any problem with the notch. If you don’t like the look of the notch, OnePlus has added an option for you to opt for the background black at the top of the screen notifications.

The curved gorilla glass back panel is attractive. It’s really superb to see the highly reflective black glass version. But opting for a matte black version is not a bad idea as you might find lots of fingerprint impressions at the top. Also, it is advisable to have a rubber back case as the smartphone is quite slippery.

The best thing about this smartphone is the 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom, which is the one you won’t get from the premium smartphones.  It is also the only smartphone featuring the physical switch at the left for Silent, Ring and Vibrates Mode.

Oneplus 6 review

Display Quality

OnePlus has made much more difference in it. The OnePlus 6 comes with a 6.28 inches Optic AMOLED Display with 1080 x 2280 resolution with 19:9  Display Aspect Ratio (402 PPI density) and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It produces good deep colors and vibrant black. Its bright enough to carry day out activities without any major color shifting or issues.

Camera Performance

It features a dual rear camera setup at the back to take clear portrait shots and slow-motion videos. The primary camera is the Sony IMX519 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture along with the Gyro-EIS and Optical Image Stabilization, Whereas the secondary camera is the Sony IMX376K 20MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture. On the paper its a big upgrade on its specification as it features the bigger camera sensors and OIS.

In real-time usage, the Oneplus 6 doing its job well. It produces sharp with the decent color reproduction. Though it’s not that comparable with the recent premium flagships like iPhone x, Galaxy s9, etc., when compared with OnePlus 5t or 5, the OnePlus 6 produces more detailed images with less noise. The touch focus on Auto HDR gives extra highlight and details. The Portrait shots add flavor to the images as it takes clear and fantastic shots with background blur.

OnePlus has already released an update for the phone before the launch and with this recent update, the low light images are pretty well. The images are brighter even at low light, but even you might see some struggles at low light shots. The Stabilization done on the Video is very great and you won’t find any issue in it even at extreme shaky video shots.

At the front, it comes with the same 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The images produced by the front-facing camera are well good and gives a great value for money.

Overall Performance

The OnePlus 6 is powered by Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 Octa-core processor (4×2.8 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4×1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver) with 64/128/256 GB internal storage and has 6/8 GB RAM to ensures that the Smart Phone runs smoothly with multiple applications simultaneously. The real-time performance of this phone is also very cool. Its well clear that OnePlus has done a lot of work to give a better feel to the users by optimizing background process and speeding up animations. When it comes to gaming it has a dedicated gaming mode in which it holds all the background process and gives the best gaming performance. To be honest this phone feels really fast.

Software

The smartphone is powered by the Onplus’s own UI – The Oxygen OS. It’s one of the great UI running on Android 8.1 (oreo) with clean Android UI experience. The best thing about this UI is that it is one of the best UI to give updates regularly and is also the one which introduces cool and new kinds of stuff. Oneplus has introduced new gesture control system in this new one. Apart from that the new reading mode is a great idea and is good for readers. The Smartphone automatically switch between reading mode and normal mode based on the App used. But still, I doubted why it lacks one hand mode (may be introduced in upcoming updates).

Fingerprint Scanner

The new fingerprint scanner is at the same place at the back as like the previous ones, But the size of the scanner has been reduced. Its responsible enough, but still you might be little aware of the smaller one and its position.

The Face detection in this smartphone is pretty technically impressive to use. The sensor works good, but still some improvements are needed to sense more accurately and Its highly recommend to use fingerprint sensor instead of Face id for more security.

Battery Performance

The entire phone is powered by the same 3300 mAh Non-removable battery as like its predecessors. Thought OnePlus 6  has the bigger display from the others, It has been well optimized to give a better battery life and it easily withstands a full day without charging. The dash charger packed with this smartphone is basically the fastest charging option that you can get. The absence of Wireless charging is considered to be the biggest con as it is one of the most expected smartphones by everyone.

Other

The Single speaker at the bottom is excellent. It produces louder audio with clear and crisp tone. Really the audio that you get from the headphone jack is awesome. When you used the good pair of headset the audio output will be glorious.

Though OnePlus says that the right gaskets and seals are there in this smartphone and is fully water resistance, There won’t be any proper water resistance certification. And thus it’s considered to have a splash resistance.

Verdict

Overall it’s quite fast, smooth smartphone with almost all the premium features with a better camera. If you’re looking for the best premium smartphone then it’s not for you and Even if you are the OnePlus 5T user then skip it as there is not that big upgrades. But if you are the one looking for the budget flagships its one for you giving more value for the money featuring all that you might expect from a good smartphone at this price and it’s really a promising one from the OnePlus.
